The rules of the road.

Plain-English terms for using Ordel. Last updated 2026-09-09.

Who we are, and what you're agreeing to

Ordel is an AI-native testing platform operated from Bristol, United Kingdom. These terms, together with our privacy policy and the plan you choose, are the agreement between you and Ordel for the hosted service at ordel.io. By creating an account or using the service you accept them.

Ordel is built for businesses and for people working on their behalf. You must be at least 18 and, if you sign up for a company, you confirm you have the authority to bind it. From then on "you" means the company, and everyone it invites into its workspace.

If your company has signed a separate agreement with us, for example for an enterprise or on-premise deployment, that agreement wins wherever it differs from these terms.

Your account and workspace

Keep your sign-in secure and your workspace membership accurate. You are responsible for everything done under your account and by the people you invite, so remove members who leave. Seats are per person: one login is not to be shared between several people.

You can sign in with a password, a magic link, or a connected identity provider such as Google or GitHub. However you sign in, the workspace and its data are governed by these terms. Workspace administrators can add and remove members, change roles, and manage billing on the company's behalf.

The applications you point Ordel at

Ordel drives real browsers and sends real traffic to the applications you configure. You may only test applications you own, or that you have written permission to test, including permission from whoever hosts them. You confirm this for every target you add, and you are responsible for keeping that permission current.

The agent acts within the scope you give it, and its actions count as yours. It fills forms, clicks buttons, submits requests and can trigger emails, payments, or other irreversible changes in the target application. Point it at test or staging environments wherever you can, keep real customer data out of them, and treat a production target as a deliberate choice you have prepared for. We are not responsible for the consequences of automated actions inside your own systems, or for defects those systems already had.

Load and performance tests generate significant traffic on purpose. Run them only against hosts you are authorised to load, list those hosts in your workspace settings, and make sure your hosting provider allows it. We may cap the traffic a run can generate and stop a run that is causing harm.

Your application may itself call third-party services. Traffic Ordel triggers to those services through your application is your responsibility, as it would be if a person were using your application.

Acceptable use

Do not use Ordel to attack, probe, or overload systems you are not authorised to test, to evade security controls, to collect other people's data, to spread malware, or to break the law. Do not use it to test applications in a way that breaches those applications' own terms, and do not use it to build a competing service.

Do not attempt to circumvent usage limits, seat counts, or credit metering, and do not resell access to Ordel without our agreement. Do not reverse engineer the service beyond what applicable law expressly allows.

Plans carry fair-use limits on concurrency, storage, run duration, and AI usage, shown in your plan and billing settings. We may throttle usage that goes well beyond what the plan is designed for, and we will tell you when we do. We may suspend workspaces that breach this section.

Your content

Requirements, test cases, scripts, recordings, runs, defects, screenshots, videos, traces and reports created in your workspace are yours. You give us the limited rights we need to store, process, and display that content so the service can work: running your tests, rendering your reports, and powering the features you use. We claim no other rights over it.

You are responsible for what you put into Ordel: the targets you configure, the credentials you store for them, and the test data you upload. Recordings capture what the browser sees, so keep anything you cannot lawfully share, including real personal data, out of the environments you test. Credentials you save for a target are stored encrypted and used only to run your tests.

You can export your content at any time, and the tests Ordel generates are plain Playwright files you can take with you.

AI features

Ordel uses large language models to explore applications, generate test cases and automation scripts, heal broken tests, and analyse results. Output generated for you is yours to use. Because models can produce similar output for similar inputs, we cannot promise that output is unique to you.

AI output can be wrong. It can miss defects, invent selectors, or draw the wrong conclusion from a run. Review generated tests and findings before you rely on them for release decisions; a green run is evidence, not a guarantee, and you stay responsible for what you ship.

We do not use your content to train models, and we do not allow the model providers we use to do so. Inputs to AI features are sent to the model providers configured for your workspace, as described in our privacy policy, with detected secrets and sensitive values redacted first. If your workspace brings its own provider key, that provider's terms apply to those calls.

The Local Runner, the free CLI, and integrations

You can connect a Local Runner that runs tests and drives a browser on your own machine. It acts only within the scope you consent to when you connect it, and everything it does on that machine is under your control and your responsibility.

The free Ordel CLI is a separate, open-source tool that runs entirely on your machine and is licensed under the terms in its own repository. It is not part of the hosted service and these terms do not apply to it.

If you connect an integration such as Jira, Linear, GitHub, Slack, or a coding agent, you authorise Ordel to exchange data with it on your behalf. Those services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for how they handle what you send them.

Plans, seats, and billing

Paid plans are billed per seat, monthly or annually, through Stripe. Your card details are held by Stripe, not on our servers. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period, and amounts already billed are not refunded unless the law requires it.

Adding seats or upgrading takes effect immediately and is charged pro rata for the rest of the period. Removing seats or downgrading takes effect from the next period. Prices exclude VAT and other taxes, which we add where we are required to collect them.

If a payment fails we retry it and give you a short grace period before limiting the workspace. If we change prices, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance and the new price applies from your next billing period. Enterprise plans are priced by agreement rather than from the published price list.

Trials

New workspaces start on a free trial of the plan shown at sign-up, for the length shown at sign-up. A trial that collects a card converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first. We may change what a trial includes, or end one early where it is being abused.

Credits

AI features and cloud load tests are metered in credits, the single unit shown throughout the product. Each plan includes a credit allowance that refreshes every billing period and does not roll over. You can buy additional credits, and purchased credits carry forward while your workspace is active.

Auto top-up, when you turn it on, charges your saved payment method at the price shown at the time and never beyond the per-period cap in your billing settings. Purchased credits are consumed by usage and are not refundable once granted. Credit rates for a given operation can change; we will show you the rate before you run anything that costs credits and give at least 30 days' notice of rate increases.

Beta and preview features

We sometimes release features labelled beta, preview, or experimental. They are provided as is, may change or disappear without notice, may not be covered by support, and should not be relied on for release decisions until we remove the label.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions, or bug reports, you agree we can use them to improve Ordel without any obligation to you. Feedback never includes your content, which stays yours.

Availability, support, and changes to the service

We work to keep Ordel reliable, but unless an enterprise agreement says otherwise we do not promise a particular uptime and we do not offer service credits. We schedule maintenance outside busy hours where we can and tell you when something is wrong.

We add, change, and occasionally retire features. Where a change removes something you rely on, we will give reasonable advance notice in the product or by email. Support is provided through the channels shown in the product and on our contact page.

Confidentiality

Each of us will keep the other's confidential information confidential, use it only for the purposes of this agreement, and protect it with at least the care we use for our own. Your content is your confidential information. Information that is public, already known to the recipient, independently developed, or that must be disclosed by law is not covered, though we will tell you before a legally compelled disclosure where we are allowed to.

Our intellectual property

Ordel, its software, documentation and branding belong to us and our licensors. These terms give you a right to use the service, not ownership of it. Open-source components included in Ordel remain under their own licences, which we make available on request.

Privacy and data protection

Our privacy policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. For the content you process through Ordel, including any personal data in it, you are the controller and we are your processor, acting on your instructions. For your account, billing and usage information, we are the controller.

We keep an up-to-date list of the service providers who process data for us in the privacy policy, and we will tell you before we add one. Customers who need a signed data processing agreement, including standard contractual clauses for international transfers, can request one from us.

Suspension and termination

You can cancel your subscription or close your workspace at any time from your billing settings. We may suspend or close a workspace if you materially breach these terms and do not fix the breach within 14 days of our notice, immediately for serious or unlawful use, or after persistent non-payment.

When a workspace closes, it enters a retention window of 30 days during which we can restore it if you ask. Export your content before you close it. After the window we delete workspace data on the schedule described in our privacy policy. Sections that by their nature should survive, including those on content, confidentiality, liability, and governing law, continue to apply.

Warranties and disclaimers

We warrant that we will provide Ordel with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will find every defect in your application, that generated tests are correct, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Ordel is a tool that supports your release process, not a substitute for it.

Indemnities

You will cover claims and losses we suffer because you tested an application you were not authorised to test, because of content you put into Ordel, or because you used the service in breach of these terms.

We will defend you against third-party claims that the Ordel service itself infringes their intellectual property rights, and pay the damages awarded or agreed in settlement. This does not cover claims arising from your content, from AI output, from your targets, or from using Ordel in combination with things we did not supply. If such a claim arises we may modify the service, obtain a licence, or, as a last resort, end your subscription and refund any prepaid fees for the unused period.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the first claim arose.

These limits do not apply to death or personal injury caused by negligence, to fraud, to your payment obligations, to either party's indemnities, or to anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Export controls and sanctions

You must comply with the export control and sanctions laws that apply to you, including those of the United Kingdom, the European Union, and the United States. You confirm that you are not located in, and do not operate on behalf of anyone located in, a country or on a list that would make our providing the service to you unlawful.

Publicity

We will not use your name or logo in our marketing without your written permission. If you tell us we can, you can withdraw that permission at any time.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If there is a dispute, we both agree to try to resolve it in good faith first; if that fails, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory law in your country gives you additional protections or the right to bring a claim at home.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms as the product and the law evolve. For material changes we will give you at least 30 days' notice in the product or by email before they take effect. If you do not agree with a change, you can cancel before it takes effect; continuing to use Ordel after that date means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top of this page is the date of the current version.

General

These terms, the privacy policy, and your plan are the entire agreement between us about the service and replace any earlier discussions. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it to a successor to our business, and will tell you if we do. If part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. Notices to you go to your workspace administrators' email addresses; notices to us go to the address on our contact page.
